The Spicer Commercial Club is a membership-based club consisting of area businesses.
The overall goal of the Spicer Commercial Club is to promote the business community in the Spicer Area. Major areas of promotion are:
- The website (explorespicer.com)– The website is continually maintained and updated. The goal of the website is advertising to promote tourism and shopping in Spicer plus provide an internet advertising outlet for small businesses in Spicer.
- A summer event centered on the 4th of July– The 4th of July celebration is Spicer’s premier area event. With the parade and fireworks always planned on the 4th of July (attracting an estimated 10,000 people to town), additional events are planned before and/or after the main event to promote the area. The additional events may include a street dance, 3-on-3 basketball tournament, the Green Lake Road Race (a 5 K run around Green Lake), an arts, crafts and flea market, plus various small events.
- A winter event called WinterFest– WinterFest is a winter event in Spicer designed to bring people to Spicer during the winter months. Usually planned for the weekends beginning in mid-January and running through mid February, WinterFest features an ice castle which is very popular with families, events planned by area businesses such as a Wine & Craft show, a fundraising event called the Polar Plunge sponsored by area law enforcement, the Frozen 5 K and other smaller events.
- Representation and financial backing for other community events that will enhance tourism and support the community of Spicer.
Qualifications for Membership:
Membership in the Spicer Commercial Club is given with each annual membership dues. Membership drive is usually in March or April of each year. Benefits for membership are website presence with link to the business website if available, advertising in articles and events during the year, and occasional SCC meetings where businesses can network and/or volunteer for community events.
Services Provided by the Spicer Commercial Club:
The Spicer Commercial Club desires to support new ways to promote the Spicer areas. Each request submitted to the SCC Board of Directors from an area organization, club member or civic organization will be considered for funding. New opportunities for improving the Spicer area are always being considered.
